Results of the WWII Memorial Visit in D.C.

Close to 100 vets from Westmoreland, Washington, Butler, and Allegheny counties made the trip to D.C. and took in the Memorial on the Mall and paid their respects at Arlington. This all expense trip arranged by the General Greene Chapter of the Military Officers Association was funded from over 100 businesses and individuals. According to the news article, many stories were traded, new friends were made and the event was very successful. Plans for another trip are already underway.

Fun in the Military

When a young man was joining the Marines he found himself in a room full of candidates for all the military services taking the placement exam. While there, the young man overhears someone near him say, "Aren't the Marines just a department of the Navy?" "Yes," came the response. "They're the men's department.”

Please see Ed Sandsmark to update the Veterans contact list. If you wish not to divulge your personal information, please annotate as such. Thank you.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION

Thank you: to everyone who was part of our cook out, September 15th at the S.W. Veteran’s Center. We are now referred to as company Kielbasa. We served over 100 people and everyone had a great time. I think that they would like to put us on the schedule again. Thank you again for everyone who served.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Pray for all the troops serving, home and abroad, during this holiday season.

A POINTMAN’S DEVOTIONAL

Response to Greatness

Eliezer, Abraham’s servant, “bowed low and worshiped the Lord.” (Genesis 24:26) This statement appears as the first response after a great success. Many times we pray, asking God to intercede on our behalf and He does, but we fail to stop and thank Him.

We have two great holidays on the horizon that aught to generate our praise toward God; Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanksgiving provides an opportunity to praise God for all the material blessings that He provides for us. The Christmas season provides the opportunity to thank God for His great love and the spiritual blessings He offers freely to everyone who will accept them.

Our mission during the Thanksgiving season, should you decide to accept, is to count your many blessings. Consider all that you own, all the friends you have, the family that supports you, the opportunity to live in the greatest country ever assembled, and the freedoms we enjoy.

Our mission during the Christmas season, should you decide to accept, is to thank God for His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus came to demonstrate God’s great love for mankind and to complete all that was necessary for our eternal salvation.

God is worthy of our praise. Let us bow “low and worship the Lord” this season and every day of our lives.
